True Love Tattoo
02:18
|
|||
Your fingers are fading
"TRUE LOVE" tattoo
I let the last sunlight out for you
A few words were all you could manage today
And a final parting kiss, half-made
Two hours they waited for you
In hallways so dull and warm
Magnolia walls and cheaply carpeted floors
Ten hours they waited for you
To leave your bed in clothes well worn
Your family seem too relieved to mourn

Swallow Me
03:16
|
|||
Clear my head with you just one more night of staring up at the stars
Wishing they could all fall down on you and me, the soil tastes so sweet
I’d be a liar if I said I’d let you down gently
But I’m on the reservoir floor with weights around my ankles
I think I’m finding comfort in letting go
Spending time alone with these thoughts
Who needs ghosts when the mind can haunt
It seems the only company I’ve had this week is the ground beneath my feet
The shaking of leaves, the wind between the trees
I’d be a liar if I said I’d let you down easily
But I’m on the reservoir floor with weights around my ankles
I think I’m finding comfort in letting go
All I could hear was the sound of The Sun swallowing me

Hospice
02:26
|
|||
I frequent her room when you're gone
I don't know what it means but the colour's so saccharine
Little lips hold yet no lies
The house had me a record player
The lady died in hospice with kids she'd never miss
With lips that hold no more lies
Now you're coming home
With familiar warmth and all the good things you've ever known
Encapsulated in one one hour drive
The gas fire heater keeps me warm in this one room
Luckily I don't need to leave because in the rest of the house i'd freeze
Waiting impatiently on a call to arms
Park right up outside and there'll be four right there at the door
With hips that cause us to multiply
Now you're home
With familiar warmth and all the good things you've ever known
Encapsulated in one one hour drive

Plot Lines
04:04
|
|||
You’re a silhouette I’m a starless sky
In a well-lit room I’ll hide in the corner from you
We let the hours pass by
Kill the time
As the light across the lake suffocates me I feel the contours of your face doing the same thing
You’re cautious I guess I can’t blame you for that
Are you nervous of what happens when the drawer slides out
Shield your eyes
Take (your) time
As the light across the lake
As long as I can die by the water’s edge

Where The Summer Sits
04:14
|
|||
It was probably best I didn't see the empty walls and vacant beds
You described it as ghosts in the hallway once your four precious boys were gone
And that's not the way you'd like these walls to be remembered, if at all
So how did it come to be that all these piled up things became just shit that you happened to own that until now you could never let go
The floorboards creak but not for me
Though they hold all their meaning
And then the garden where the summer sits is overgrown and waiting
They made promises to you
That meant nothing in the end
They made promises to you
That meant nothing at all
(You're taking your time here to mention that you're ready for a change of direction
Pack up, move on, go south
It's best for you there / There's more for you there)
